A poignant and heartfelt post Alice, thank you for sharing this with us. The more I read about your father then more he sounds like a wonderful guide. You do what your parents did and you try to do it better is such amazing advice, I wish I had heard that too.

Thank you so much. It's always lovely to see your name pop up and feel that sense of connection through words. It's funny, when dad first said those words to me I found them so simple that somehow they seemed irrelevant, and yet they are words that have grown as I have grown, becoming more poignant each and every day. I appreciate you taking the time to read and share what spoke to you. I hope you are well!

What words of wisdom your father passed along in his slightly blunt northern way. One that I am hearing all the time now I am really 'up north', much more so than the slightly softer northern Lincolnshire of my youth. As Carol says, so heartfelt. These memories help with grief. At least I hope so for you.

"Slightly blunt northern way" — yes indeed!! You've got it! Sometimes I didn't always appreciate or understand that bluntness, and yet his many words of wisdom will stay with me forever, and no doubt be passed along the line. Thank you for your kind words, Sarah.💖

This is such a profound and beautiful sharing, Alice... so heartfelt. How quickly time passes and, before we know it, those dear to us are journeying onwards leaving us with the rich tapestry of moments and memories to cherish. Absorb... a perfect choice of word. Sending so much love. 💖
