My writing life goes back to being a small child when I would take myself into nature to explore, then share my thoughts with the page. There was solace to be found in wide open spaces, beneath trees, in the arms of the wind, along with peace in my mind as I held pen to paper.
Writing is not something I do, it's who I am.
By my mid-twenties I had combined my passions for the earth and pen, to travel the world as researcher for a tourist guide.
This opportunity — twenty years ago now — was the springboard to a life of wandering, seeking out simpler, slower ways to live and sharing words about my experiences; words that have appeared in numerous magazines including:
Breathe | Bird Watching | National Geographic Traveller | Prima | Juno | Countryman Dalesman | Metro | Plant Forage Make … to name a few.
I’m also a monthly columnist for Towpath Talk, writing ‘Characters of the Cut,’ which shares the stories of those who live and work on the canals of England.
In addition, as I home-educated my daughter throughout her school years, I now enjoy igniting the passion of writing in the homes of other homeschooling families all over the world as a writing coach for 👉Brave Writer.👈
Other works include poetry and fictional short stories that have been featured in anthologies, several children's books and a number of educational resources. I am currently working on a memoir about my nomadic life.
